Conservatives Back new fire safety campaign
Clifton Ward Conservatives have thrown their full support into the new initiative by Lancashire fire and Rescue Service members who will be going out and about in Lytham spreading details of key fire safety measures in the heart of the community. Using an innovative approach with a different message every month, posters and leaflets will be appearing in public places aimed at changing old habits and challenging entrenched behaviour.
Steve Morgan, Preventative support Manger for Lancashire fire and Rescue Service said: “As an organisation we continually strive to seek out innovative ways to engage with the most vulnerable members of our communities. The effects of a ‘fire related incident’ can be felt across a whole community and it is therefore imperative that our fire safety messages are accessible to those persons deemed to be most at risk.”
Evidence shows that older people are the group most likely to die or be injured as the result of a fire at home, and many of the risks arise because of habit and routine. The campaign will saturate the whole community with messages highlighting the risks associated with the main causes of fire, including cooking, smoking and heating.
Working with partner organizations and local businesses, Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service hope that this initiative will contribute to the increased wellbeing of local residents. As always, Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service are able to visit residents to offer advice and guidance on fire safety issues, and to provide free equipment where necessary to ensure that homes are safer.
