Fylde Borough Councillor - Heyhouses Ward
St Annes on Sea Town Councillor - Heyhouses Ward & Mayor 2013-14
Viv is a true Sandgrown'un and her family of three children and four grandchildren are now the fifth generation living in St Annes. Viv moved into the Heyhouses ward over fifteen years ago. Being frustrated with how social housing was run encouraged her to step into politics and she hasn't looked back.
Previously a member of the board for Progress Group (NFH) and helped to bring 111 new homes to the area as well as environmental works to the older properties, Viv has helped set a new standard for social housing in the area. To Viv, social housing doesn't need to mean rough areas where you're afraid to walk after dark and so much of her council work has been dedicated to community development on both a planning and environmental level.
From security gating and fences to bus shelters and gardens, Viv works hard with a dedication to improve her local surroundings. From a security point of view Viv has established a Neighbourhood Watch Group and taken over as Chairperson for the Heyhouses Police And Communities Together (PACT) group.
Speaking up for women's and family rights within her area, Viv is a real go-getter who wants to represent the residents of Heyhouses ward as well as she can.
