John Singleton

Fylde Borough Council - Staining & Weeton Ward

John lives in Staining with his wife Geraldine. During this time he has served on Staining Parish Council for over 12 years. Two of these years as Chairman representing his local area, he created the Chairman's Project which has allowed for the village play areas and playing fields to be upgraded, benefiting the youth of the community.

 Frequently fundraising as part of the Weeton Village Hall Committee, he has helped deliver many successful fundraising events from which all the monies raised go towards the new interiors for Weeton Village Hall which is now being built and was completed in 2015 on the back of a small development.

 With youth interests in mind John has helped with youth club at Weeton and obtained grants for a new gaming television and as Chairman of the 1st Staining Scout Group, John secured grant funding for a supply of scouting tents, 14 double glazed windows for the Scout HQ and a covered trailer so the young people can transport their tents and equipment easily to various camp sites and has obtained local builders to render the Scout HQ.

 John has been a member of the Staining war memorial Committee which saw the dedication of a new memorial to the great war. He also introduced Civic Sundays to Staining.

When Staining lost its night time Bus Service to Blackpool John campaigned for it's return for over a twelve month period resulting in a day and night service not only to Blackpool but Poulton as well.

 Working hard to retain the village environment in Staining and Weeton, John is a member of the Staining Village Hall Committee and Vice Chairman of the Weeton Village Hall Committee. John fully supports the 20mph zones and has been instrumental in bringing 20 mph Road Watch to Staining were members of the Village are trained in the use of Speed Guns.

 After many conversations with Lancashire County Council and following a house to house survey he has secured project funding to tackle flooding problems in Staining.

 He maintains Village websites such as Staining Parish Council, Weeton Parish Council and Weeton Village Hall and is editor of the Staining Parish Council Magazine.
