Fylde Borough Councillor - Ansdell Ward

Richard has been married to Sheila for 40 years and has 2 daughters Claire and Helen who attended Ansdell Primary School and Lytham High School. He has lived in Fylde for over 40 years, 25 of which have been in Lytham St  Annes.  As a headteacher of 2 Fylde primary schools until retirement, 5 years at Wesham C.E. and 22 years at Ansdell Primary Richard has always had a passionate interest in serving the local community.

In 2011 Richard was elected as a Conservative Fylde Councillor representing Ansdell ward and is currently Vice Chair of the Fylde Council  Development Mangement Committee, a member of the Finance and Democracy Committee and Budget Working Group. He has also worked on a number of Task Working groups including Built Heritage, Car Parking and Shale Gas. Richard is Chairman of Ansdell Ward Committee and Honorary Chairman of the Friends of Ansdell Library as well as being a member of St Pauls C.E.Parochial  Church Council Ansdell and Fairhaven. As a councillor for Ansdell he has worked hard to help to deliver the recent £400,000 Fylde Council regeneration programme for the village centre and the creation of new Christmas Lights and has  campaigned for the retention of the local library.

In his spare time as a member of the National Trust he enjoys visiting country houses and gardens  and travelling generally, reading, cycling, swimming, the theatre and following sport particularly football.
